Ljubljana's municipal authorities have announced free access to all city swimming pools operated by Šport Ljubljana due to high temperatures and heatwave conditions. Starting today, entry to the four public pools, Kolezija, Kodeljevo, Ilirija, and Vevče, is free of charge. The initiative aims to provide relief during the ongoing heatwave, with officials noting that visitor numbers have increased by approximately 50% compared to typical summer days. The free admission policy applies until each pool reaches its maximum safe capacity. Visitors are encouraged to arrive earlier than usual, as entry will no longer be possible once the designated capacity is reached for safety reasons. The measure is part of a broader effort to ensure public health and comfort during extreme weather conditions. Among the four pools, Kolezija has been the most visited. According to officials from the Public Institute Šport Ljubljana, swimming pools remain a popular choice for cooling off, relaxation, and active leisure time during hot periods. Water temperature typically ranges around 26 degrees Celsius, though it can rise to approximately 28 degrees Celsius during extended periods of high temperatures and sunny weather. Natural shade from trees is supplemented with free sunshades, ensuring comfortable conditions even on the hottest days. At individual pools, a variety of sports activities are also offered.
