Jaguar TCS Racing sets world record with 29 runners over 100km

Jaguar TCS Racing has set a new Guinness World Record by completing a 100km GPS drawing of its Jaguar I-TYPE 7 across London, involving 29 runners. The achievement took place ahead of the upcoming London E-Prix, scheduled for August 15 and 16, marking the end of the GEN3 era in Formula E. The record was established through a collaborative effort between Jaguar TCS Racing and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the team’s Official Title and Technology Partner. The GPS drawing was executed by 29 runners who traversed a route exceeding 100 kilometers, starting and ending at TCS’ London headquarters. Each participant carried a GPS device, which was handed off to the next runner like a baton. This method ensured continuous tracking and met the stringent requirements of Guinness World Records, including recognizable artwork, continuous route mapping, timestamped GPS data, and complete participant records. The final image of the record-breaking GPS route will be unveiled at 9 am BST on Wednesday, August 12. This initiative served as a tribute to Jaguar TCS Racing’s accomplishments during the GEN3 era of Formula E. Over the course of four seasons, the team secured 18 race victories, more than any other team, along with 23 additional podium finishes and 1,144 points. In addition to the physical GPS drawing, the team also set a second Guinness World Record by organizing a racing simulator video game relay with 109 participants on the virtual 2-kilometer London ExCeL track at their technical headquarters. Team Principal Ian James emphasized that the Guinness World Records were an appropriate way to commemorate the conclusion of the GEN3 era. “GEN3 has been a record-breaking era for the team, and what better way to mark it than by officially putting our name into the Guinness World Record books ahead of this weekend's London E-Prix,” he stated. TCS Chief Marketing Officer Abhinav Kumar highlighted the synergy between running and motorsport, noting that both require endurance, intelligence, and strategic execution. “So, it was natural to bring the two sports together by running side-by-side with Jaguar TCS Racing across London to trace the outline of the Jaguar I-TYPE 7 and set another world record,” Kumar explained. As the team prepares for the London E-Prix, Jaguar TCS Racing enters the event with a 14-point advantage over Porsche in the Teams’ World Championship. The team is aiming for its second consecutive Teams’ World title, following their previous victory. Driver Mitch Evans is also in pursuit of his first Drivers’ World Championship, currently sitting in second place, just two points behind leader Jake Dennis. For Evans, the London races represent the final two appearances of his 10-year tenure with Jaguar TCS Racing. Antonio Felix da Costa remains in contention for the title, positioned sixth in the standings, 33 points behind the leader, while nine other drivers are still mathematically possible contenders for the championship.
