Iva Rinčić on Galebu, HOS, Obersnel: Mural on Škurinja remains until further notice

Rijeka’s mayor, Iva Rinčić, announced during a press conference that the mural on Škurinjama will remain intact until further notice. She emphasized her indifference toward comments made by Obersnella, stating she has the right to sue for defamation. Rinčić noted that she responsibly filed a criminal complaint, and institutions will determine whether such claims were justified. The statement was made by the city administrator, who highlighted that the complaint was filed by the mayor herself. The city of Rijeka successfully submitted a project for deep energy renovation of the Sports and Recreational Center Zamet, which is part of the public call for energy renovation of buildings organized by the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction, and State Property. The value of the project exceeds one point eight million euros. This announcement was made by Mayor Iva Rinčić during today's press conference. She added that the investment will be funded with up to eighty percent of the available funds and that the evaluation, ranking, and eventual allocation of funds will follow. The goal of the project is to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, lower CO2 emissions, extend the lifespan of the building, and improve conditions for using the space, both for athletes and citizens of Zamet and beyond. Works include renovating the exterior facade, thermal insulation of the façade and roof, repairing parts of the roof, replacing outdated windows, installing photovoltaic panels, improving accessibility for persons with disabilities, and organizing the surrounding area and green spaces. It is a significant sports facility in Rijeka, and investment in it represents more than just investment in a building, it is an investment in recreation, sports, and social gatherings for all citizens. In addition, the mayor announced the construction of a new parking lot adjacent to the sports hall Dinko Lukarić on Kozali. This refers to an existing parking area that is currently unorganized. At present, project documentation is being prepared, and the estimated cost of works is forty-eight thousand euros. With these funds, sixty-six parking spaces will be created, and all documentation should be ready by December 1st. Most of the funds will be secured in the budget for the upcoming year. Reminding that nine children’s playgrounds received new equipment in June, Rinčić announced the installation of anti-stress flooring, construction improvements at those locations, and continued work on the renovation of playgrounds on Vojaku, as well as plans for the renovation of playgrounds in Bartola Kašić Street and Delta, which should be completed by October. Currently, investments are also being made in the infrastructure of primary schools. According to the deputy mayor, Alexandra-Sasa Milaković, half a million euros will be invested in schools during the summer. He mentioned that the energy renovation of Turnić Primary School has been completed and that the energy renovation of Trsat Primary School will begin in autumn. In total, three point two million euros will be invested in primary schools. He also addressed the issue of Fran Franković Primary School, noting that the main project is underway and that they expect it to be completed by the end of August. At the beginning of September, they will submit a funding application under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. For the coming autumn, he announced the preparation of an idea solution for the project of a new building for the Autism Center and the Education and Training Center, which will be located on Krnjeva. Collaboration with the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth will be sought to resolve financing, and they hope that the actual construction will start during the following year. Until then, they have found a transitional solution, and the speech referred to the relocation of part of the students from the Autism Center to Kozali Primary School, where suitable space was found. They are considering several other locations and aim to find a long-term solution within the next year, which will be more appropriate. Milaković stated that these locations were not adequate. Over the past few years, there has been increased demand for accommodation for children in both centers. Both centers operate in inadequate conditions, with overcrowded rooms and similar issues. This is not a new problem but rather something that has grown over time, leading them to face fire safety solutions that are clearly substandard. Therefore, they are working on a quality long-term solution that requires time, concluded Rinčić.
