Israeli PolyPid signs $320 million deal to sell drug preventing surgical infections in US, Canada

Israeli biotech company PolyPid has signed a $320 million deal with Canadian pharmaceutical firm Azurity Pharmaceuticals to commercialize a drug called D-PLEX100 in the United States and Canada. Under the agreement, PolyPid will receive an initial payment of $15 million upon signing and another $15 million once the U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepts its new drug application, expected next month. The company could earn up to $300 million in additional payments based on regulatory milestones, development progress, and sales performance. D-PLEX100 is designed to prevent surgical site infections by delivering prolonged antibacterial activity directly at the surgical site. PolyPid retains global commercial rights outside North America and owns its PLEX platform and related technologies.
