The footage shows a snake coiled near the entrance of the residence on Wednesday evening. The viewer, who sent the clip to the newspaper, revealed only that the recording was made late in the evening. He did not know the fate of the reptile. The newspaper contacted the Animal Rescue Center in Zagreb to inquire whether they had intervened and removed the animal from the street. A spokesperson for the Zagreb Zoo, Krešimir Rendulić, confirmed that the center had not taken action regarding the snake. According to him, the creature in question was a white snake, known scientifically as Zamenis longissimus, commonly referred to as the Balkan whip snake or the Esculapian snake. No one called the rescue center to report the presence of the snake, the spokesperson added. This species is non-venomous and can grow up to two meters in length. It is an excellent climber and primarily feeds on small mammals, birds, and their eggs.
