MXThe Mexican federal government has established a Technical-Scientific Council for the National Strategy against the Cattle Corn Borer (GBG) to strengthen scientific, technological, and institutional capabilities in support of livestock farming, which sustains millions of producer families and ensures national food supply. The Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (Agriculture) and the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (Secihti) organized the council, which aims to enhance inter-institutional coordination, territorial operations, communication campaigns, international cooperation, and research and technology transfer. Priority research areas include strengthening surveillance and diagnostic systems, early detection of cases, analyzing the pest’s population dynamics, evaluating new prevention and eradication methods, genetic and biotechnology studies, and developing technologies and AI tools.
