Inquest to determine whether man killed his mother and staged her death

An inquest is underway in South Australia to determine whether Ethan Grosvenor, 27, murdered his mother Tracee Ann Grosvenor, 58, and staged her death to make it appear as though she was driving when their car crashed on December 3, 2022. The coroner’s assistant, Darren Evans, stated that DNA evidence indicated Ethan was driving at the time of the collision and later placed his mother in the driver's seat. Police initially believed Mrs. Grosvenor was in the driver's seat, but this was later disproven. An independent witness reported seeing the vehicle parked with Mrs. Grosvenor in the passenger seat, appearing distressed. Ethan sustained minor injuries and was detained under the Mental Health Act. He later took his own life on December 14, 2022, while being supervised at the Adelaide Dental Hospital. His occupational therapist, Rachael Rolla, noted that Ethan had requested to use the restroom and failed to return, raising concerns about his safety.
