IDIndonesian rice field eels from South Kalimantan have entered the Chinese market following China's recognition of Indonesia's fisheries certification system. The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries confirmed this development, noting that the eels meet China's import requirements through Indonesia's Processing Feasibility Certificate (SKP) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification. This recognition was achieved via a Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) between Indonesia and China's General Administration of Customs (GACC). In 2025, Indonesia exported 170 metric tons of live and frozen rice field eels worth 3.5 billion rupiah, sourced from two certified fish processing facilities. China is a major destination for Indonesian seafood exports, with total fisheries product exports to China reaching 491,528 metric tons valued at $1.04 billion in 2025.
