Indonesian govt speeds land certification in transmigration areas

The Indonesian Ministry of Transmigration is accelerating land certification in transmigration areas through its Trans Tuntas program to enhance legal certainty, attract investment, and promote economic development. Deputy Minister Viva Yoga Mauladi highlighted that resolving land disputes and issuing land ownership certificates will provide legal security for transmigrants, encouraging business activity and boosting economic growth. The program has already issued 13,248 land ownership certificates across 22 provinces in 2025, with plans to issue another 11,288 certificates in 2026. The initiative also includes inventorying land management rights at 50 locations across 13 provinces, covering over 217,000 hectares. The ministry has shifted its transmigration policy from a top-down approach to a more localized, bottom-up strategy based on local government proposals. Additionally, the ministry is improving education infrastructure by rehabilitating schools in transmigration areas.
