India's passport has been ranked 125th in the Global Passport Index 2026, dropping one position from its 2025 rank but improving slightly from its 2021 position of 127th. The index, produced by Global Citizen Solutions, evaluates passports based on three criteria: Enhanced Mobility (50%), Quality of Life (25%), and Investment Potential (25%). India's Enhanced Mobility score dropped to 136th, while its Quality of Life score rose to 118th and its Investment score climbed to 94th. Indian passport holders currently enjoy visa-free access to 26 countries and visa-on-arrival privileges in several others, though they still require visas for most major destinations like the U.S., UK, and Germany.
