His remarks were part of a broader effort to position BRICS as a key player in shaping the future of global science and technology. During his address, Singh outlined the evolution of BRICS STI cooperation into a robust platform that includes research collaboration, innovation partnerships, youth exchanges, research infrastructure, and thematic working groups. Under India’s presidency, a comprehensive review of STI priorities is underway to align cooperation with emerging scientific and technological trends and the developmental goals of member states. He reiterated India’s commitment to an open, inclusive, and human-centric approach to science and innovation. Singh cited several national initiatives as examples of this philosophy, including the National Quantum Mission, National Supercomputing Mission, BioE3 Policy, National Geospatial Policy, and the expansion of the Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem. He encouraged BRICS partners to explore ambitious yet practical strategies for deeper collaboration in areas such as frontier research, innovation financing, talent mobility, research infrastructure sharing, startup partnerships, and capacity building. Such efforts, he argued, would enable the creation of a future-ready BRIS STI framework capable of addressing global challenges and supporting the aspirations of the Global South.
