The Royal Clipper, a majestic sailing ship operated by the Swedish company Star Clippers, embarked on a voyage along the Adriatic Sea, offering passengers a unique blend of adventure and relaxation. The journey began with a “big sea,” after bidding farewell to a golden Venice bathed in sunset. Heading south toward the coast of Croatia and Montenegro, the ship set sail under clear skies, though the weather quickly turned unpredictable. As evening fell and the coastline became a shimmering mirage, lightning illuminated the sky, while powerful winds filled the sails, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. The Royal Clipper moved through the waves at a steady pace of 30 knots, its gentle rocking motion providing a soothing rhythm that helped passengers drift into sleep in their comfortable cabins, small yet thoughtfully designed spaces that maximized space and comfort. The Royal Clipper is the flagship of Star Clippers, a fleet known for its commitment to classic sailing traditions combined with modern comforts. The vessel was launched in 2000 and is a tribute to the Preussen, one of the largest five-masted ships ever built, which sank in the English Channel in 1910. With five masts, 42 sails reaching up to 60 meters in height, a total sail area of 5,000 square meters, and dimensions of 134 meters in length and 16 meters in maximum width, the Royal Clipper is a marvel of engineering. It accommodates up to 227 passengers in 112 cabins, each designed with elegance and functionality. The ship holds the Guinness World Records title for being the largest fully rigged sailing ship currently in service. During the summer season, it operates in the Mediterranean, while during winter months, it travels to the Caribbean and Central America, combining traditional sailing techniques with modern technology to ensure smooth navigation even when the wind fails.
