In a series of tragic incidents across Slovenia over the weekend, several individuals lost their lives due to traffic accidents involving vehicles, bicycles, and agricultural machinery. While maneuvering his tractor down a hill, he lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over. The impact led to critical injuries, and he died at the location. Authorities noted that an extraordinary technical inspection had been scheduled for the tractor, indicating potential mechanical issues contributing to the accident. Meanwhile, in Novo Mesto, a separate incident saw a 42-year-old driver involved in a collision with another vehicle before fleeing the scene. Upon investigation, police discovered that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, having exceeded the legal limit significantly. He was stripped of his driving license and prohibited from further driving. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this dangerous driving continues. Across the country, the police reported handling 129 traffic accidents in the past 24 hours, two of which resulted in fatalities. Fifteen accidents ended with minor injuries, and three with serious ones. In addition to these, officers addressed numerous violations of public order and safety, including 56 instances of disorder and 48 criminal acts. Two drivers were detained for drunk driving, and eight vehicles were impounded for more severe traffic law infractions. These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by Slovenian authorities in ensuring road safety.
