Halldór Haraldsson the pianist is dead

Halldór Haraldsson, 89-year-old Icelandic pianist and former principal of the Reykjavík Conservatory, has passed away. He was known for his extensive career in music, having held his first public piano recital in 1965 and performing both domestically and internationally. He co-founded the Reykjavík Trio in 1988 and collaborated frequently with Gísli Magnússon, another pianist, releasing two albums together. Haraldsson taught music at various institutions, including the Reykjavík Conservatory, where he served as head from 1992 to 2003, and later at Iceland's Academy of Arts until 2012. He leaves behind his wife, Susan Haraldsson, two children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His funeral service will take place at Hallgrímskirkja on July 9th.
