Construction of the extension of Višnja Gora Primary School underway, children’s safety remains top priority The construction of the new wing at Višnja Gora Primary School has begun in full swing, with child safety remaining the primary concern. Following the end of this year’s school year, extensive building works have commenced in Višnja Gora aimed at extending and renovating the school. The project involves the removal of the southern section of the school and the construction of a three-story addition covering more than 1,500 square meters of net area. Construction will take place throughout the upcoming school year, requiring students, staff, and parents to adjust to modified arrangements for school operations during this period. The implementing company, GPI Tehnika d.o.o., fully removed the southern part of the school following the end of the academic year and carefully separated the construction site from the school premises. Excavation work for foundation pits is currently ongoing, along with preparations for the installation of temporary supports for the new structure’s base. The existing roof of the atrium has been protected, and all access points leading to the construction zone have been sealed off, physically separating the educational areas from the construction site. In the gymnasium, which will temporarily serve as a space for organizing the cafeteria and library during construction, mechanical and electrical installations for the shared kitchen facilities are being carried out. In recent days, Mayor Dušan Strnad and headmaster Marjan Potokar of Stična Primary School visited the construction site together with the contractor, GPI Tehnika d.o.o. Both emphasized that, given the demanding nature of the investment, child safety, as well as that of employees and visitors, is the highest priority. Special attention will therefore be given to the safe arrival of students to school, especially during the early days of the new academic year. Nearby, on Talcev Street, work is also underway to establish a temporary bus stop, which will ensure safe transportation for students arriving and departing from school. Parents will receive detailed instructions from the school administration before the start of the new academic year regarding the organization of lessons during construction. They will be informed about entry procedures, traffic regulations, the location of the temporary bus stop, and all other essential information necessary for the safe arrival of their children to school. Regarding the construction of the extension at Višnja Gora Primary School, the project includes the creation of a modern three-story addition featuring spaces for teaching and related activities. These include a new kitchen and dining hall, five large classrooms including a computer lab, six individual study rooms, a library, administrative and technical offices, and changing rooms. A new main entrance to the school will also be established at its current location near the eastern market square. The total value of the investment, including technological and furniture equipment, amounts to approximately five million euros. The municipality of Ivančna Gorica secured 1.8 million euros in co-financing from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth for the implementation of the project.
