The captured individual is suspected of orchestrating several high-profile assaults against public security personnel, including bombings at police stations in Dagua and El Queremal using explosives deployed via drones. These attacks reportedly impacted civilian populations and caused significant disruption. Additionally, he was implicated in an attack on a military unit in Danubio earlier this year, which resulted in seven professional soldiers being injured. Intelligence data indicates that this individual was also involved in the installation of explosive cylinders along the Cali-Buenaventura route, the burning of vehicles, extortion activities, and threats directed towards both law enforcement and civilians in Dagua. During the operation, military units seized an M4 rifle, three ammunition supplies, 85 cartridges, and a telescopic sight. President Abelardo De La Espriella confirmed the success of the operation and issued a direct message to Mordisco amid ongoing military and police efforts to dismantle his network. He emphasized that those who target security forces and instill fear among the populace will face consequences, stating that such individuals would end up in plastic bags, referencing the fate of the recently removed leader. Minister of Defense General (ret.) Jorge Mora described the operation as a decisive blow against a group engaged in violent tactics, including the use of drones and explosives, alongside extortion and intimidation campaigns. He reiterated the government's commitment to confronting those who challenge state authority, asserting that the campaign continues with increasing intensity. In recent days, the president had announced a reward of up to 500 million pesos for the capture of alias Yamaha and alias Amazonas, other leaders of Mordisco’s dissident factions operating in Tolima. This initiative underscores the administration’s determination to weaken the influence of these armed groups through both operational actions and financial incentives. Further operations have been planned to expand the impact of current efforts, focusing on dismantling remaining networks and preventing future attacks.
