Meanwhile, in another part of the country, a man has been placed under preventive detention after being formally charged with the murder of his cohabiting partner in the town of Río Claro. The incident took place early Saturday morning on Avenida Ursicinio Opazo in the locality of Cumpeo. The victim, a woman aged 52, was attacked with a weapon in public view, leading to her death. Following reports of an emergency call, authorities arrived at the scene and found the deceased along with the suspected perpetrator, who had visible signs linking him to the crime, including blood-stained clothing and active arrest warrants against him.

The case has been assigned to the Homicide Brigade of the National Police Investigations Department in Talca. Preliminary investigations revealed that the attack followed a dispute between the couple, who had been living together for about a year and had previous records of domestic violence. The court accepted the request for preventive detention due to concerns over public safety, citing the risk posed by allowing the accused to remain free.
