Gemini Notebook: Google is renaming its AI research tool as NotebookLM

Google has rebranded its AI research tool, previously known as NotebookLM, as part of its broader Gemini AI ecosystem. The tool remains a standalone product but now integrates more deeply with other Google services like the Gemini app and Google Search. Over 30 million individuals and 600,000 organizations currently use the platform. Recent updates include upgrading the tool to use the Gemini 3.5 model and integrating it with Google’s Antigravity agent platform. Additionally, users can now access a secure cloud environment within the tool to write and execute code for data analysis and visualization. These features are available to paying users of Google AI Ultra and Workspace customers with specific AI access tiers, with plans to expand availability to all Pro users soon. Google has been gradually merging NotebookLM into the Gemini system since last year, including integrating Notebooks into the Gemini app and enhancing content organization capabilities.
