Photography competition to celebrate the centenary of the Bohinj Railway

A photography contest has been announced to mark the 120th anniversary of Bohinj Railway, with submissions open to photographers from Slovenia and abroad. The event will take place in Nova Gorica, where the Fotoklub Nova Gorica will host the competition under the patronage of the Slovenian Photography Association. The contest aims to highlight the unique characteristics of the Bohinj Railway and its integration with technical and architectural heritage, natural and cultural landscapes, and the stories of people who live near, use, or explore this area. The contest features two themes. The first focuses on the Bohinj Railway, between landscape and life, and invites photographs that capture the railway's infrastructure, trains, architectural heritage, scenic views, and daily life along the route. The second theme, “The Traveler Creates a Story,” encourages images that tell the stories of travelers, their experiences, expectations, emotions, and celebrations. Photographers can submit up to four images per theme, and works created using artificial intelligence software are not permitted. Submissions are due by September 13, with the exhibition and award ceremony scheduled for October 2 in Nova Gorica. A catalog will also be published. The initiative is organized in collaboration with the Posoški Development Center, Regional Mobility Center Northern Primorska and Tourism Bohinj. This partnership underscores the region’s commitment to promoting both cultural and natural heritage through visual storytelling. The Bohinj Railway, which connects Jesenice via Nova Gorica to Trieste or Sežana, is a key transportation link and a symbol of regional connectivity.
