PHOTO: After extensive restoration, a shining historic building in Ilica will soon welcome students again

The historic building known as the Center for Education and Care Slava Raškaj, located at Ilica 83 in Zagreb, has completed its renovation and is set to reopen for students. The building, originally constructed on the site of a former convent used as a hospital, birthplace, and school, was renovated after extensive restoration work. It retains its classical facade and three high rounded windows, designed by architect Ivan Holz, with contributions from other craftsmen. The building holds historical significance as it was donated to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1939 for the education of deaf and blind children, a purpose it continues to fulfill today. Following the removal of protective scaffolding, the facility is now in the final stages of preparation for reopening, offering a safer and more modern environment for students and staff.
