CroatiaConstruction work on the restoration of Ivan Meštrović's Pavilion, also known as the House of the Croatian Society of Fine Arts (HDLU), in Zagreb is proceeding according to schedule. The project began at the start of this year and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. The restoration is necessary due to damage caused by an earthquake and to improve the building's mechanical resistance for safe use. Funding comes from the European Solidarity Fund, the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (NPOO), the NextGenerationEU fund, and the state budget of the Republic of Croatia, totaling 20.6 million euros. HDLU director Ivana Andabak stated that after 85 years, the entire space of Meštrović's Pavilion will finally be fully restored for the service of fine arts. Following the relocation of the Croatian Historical Museum, HDLU plans to expand its activities by opening an international artist residency center and an additional fourth black box gallery. The official opening of the renovated facility is planned for spring 2027.
