Fuji music legend Wasiu “Kwam 1” Ayinde has once again found himself at the center of a public dispute over paternity, following new allegations that he fathered and abandoned a 12-year-old girl named Azizat. The controversy has reignited discussions about the singer's personal life, including his past statements about leaving behind clothing and shoes with former partners who have his children. Ogechi Eleana, the woman making the claim, stated that she served as Kwam 1’s pedicurist and that their relationship lasted over seven years. During that time, she alleges she became pregnant with Azizat. She claims that when she informed the singer, he asked her to terminate the pregnancy and offered financial assistance for the procedure. When she refused, he reportedly cut off contact with her. Eleana further explained that she sought help from the late Kabiru Agbabiaka, who allegedly relayed her concerns to Kwam 1. She also claimed that she visited the singer’s mother, who appeared emotionally distressed upon seeing Azizat, believing the girl resembled the artist. Azizat, who accompanied her mother during the interview, expressed her frustration with the lack of support. She noted that she has stopped attending school and has attempted to pursue a musical career independently. Despite her talent, she says she has not received the backing she believes she deserves. “My father is a billionaire, but I am not seeing that reality,” she said. “People sometimes come to film me to help, but I end up disappointed. I see him supporting others with millions, but he refuses to come to my aid.” Kwam 1 responded to the allegations during a performance at the 10th coronation anniversary of the Onikate of Ikate, Lateef Adams. In a video shared with Premium Times by his media aide, Kunle Rasheed, the singer did not confirm knowing Eleana or acknowledging a romantic history. Instead, he dismissed the claims, suggesting that those involved should use social media to resolve the issue. “Anybody who has an unnecessary pregnancy is just like a giveaway,” he said. “These children, don’t kill me. Go and say it on TikTok and other social media platforms.” His remarks drew sharp criticism from Nigerians, many of whom condemned him for seemingly mocking Eleana and her daughter. However, his saxophonist, Olawale Adekoya, defended the singer and apologized to the public. He clarified that the lyrics in question were not directed at Eleana or her daughter, explaining that the rhythm had emerged spontaneously during a moment of excitement and was never intended to cause offense. In a separate development, Kwam 1’s former manager, Ayo Shonaiya, has spoken out about the situation, arguing that many women intentionally seek to have children with the musician. He claimed that the attention Kwam 1 receives makes him a target for those seeking to become mothers, describing the phenomenon as a form of “souvenir.” Shonaiya insisted that some women are still hopeful about having children with the singer, emphasizing that his life and influence make him unique among celebrities. In a 2025 interview resurfacing recently, Kwam 1 discussed his approach to relationships and parenting. He referred to these items as “souvenirs,” suggesting they could serve as lasting reminders of their time together.
