Flash flood: emergency agencies launch rescue operation in Kaduna

A flash flood struck parts of Kaduna metropolis on Sunday evening, affecting areas such as Asikolaye and the Federal Polytechnic, Tudun Wada, in Kaduna North Local Government Area. Emergency agencies including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency, Federal and Kaduna State Fire Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Red Cross Society initiated evacuation and search and rescue operations. Halima Suleiman, Head of NEMA Operations Office, noted that floodwaters had receded but residual water remained, with reports of at least one casualty under investigation.
