CroatiaThe city of Vukovar, located on the Danube River in eastern Croatia, is working to transform its traditional cuisine into a tourist attraction through a project called 'Taste&Stay.' This initiative brings together the education system, tourism sector, and hospitality industry to create a sustainable gastronomic identity for the region. The project focuses on preserving and promoting local dishes such as fish paprikaš, perch stew, and carp chips, which reflect the area’s rich continental culinary heritage and abundance of fresh river fish. The initiative includes a cookbook created by students and teachers at the Marko Babić Secondary Vocational School, in collaboration with the City of Vukovar Tourism Association and the Guide Association of Vukovar. The cookbook, available in both Croatian and English, aims to serve as a souvenir and promotional tool for international visitors while encouraging restaurants to incorporate these traditional recipes into their menus.
