EXCLUSIVE: DHS seeks custody of illegal immigrant charged with murder after Trump deportation, Biden release

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is seeking custody of Akbor Miah, a Bangladeshi illegal immigrant accused of murdering his sister-in-law in Florida. Miah initially entered the U.S. in 2016, was deported in 2019 under the Trump administration, but reportedly re-entered the country illegally and was released by the Biden administration in 2022. After the murder of Monica Islam, his sister-in-law, which occurred in May 2025, Miah fled to New York before being arrested and extradited back to Florida. DHS has requested that he be held in federal custody after his state trial concludes to face immigration enforcement.

Bias read (Conservative): The article frames the situation as a failure of the Biden administration’s policies, referring to New York as a 'sanctuary state' and emphasizing the need to prevent 'illegal aliens' from evading justice. It highlights the contrast between the Trump and Biden administrations’ approaches to deportee
