In major cities like Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles, demand for head spa treatments has surged over recent years, leading to wait times that can stretch across months. This trend is now catching on in Slovenia, where several salons have introduced the service, reporting high levels of customer interest. The surge in popularity began with online content showcasing the soothing nature of the treatment. These videos often depict clients lying comfortably on a massage table while professionals gently work through their hair and scalp, combining elements of relaxation, cleansing, and personal care. As these posts gained traction, they sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among potential customers. In Slovenia, this trend has led to increased activity within the beauty industry, with some salons experiencing long waiting lists. For instance, the Luana Head Spa, opened earlier this year, has been fully booked for nearly two months in advance, reflecting the rising demand. Salons such as Glow Room in Senčur and Lumen Estetika in Ljubljana and Novo Mesto have also embraced the trend, incorporating head spa sessions into their offerings. According to Eva Ahčin, owner of Glow Room, the primary driver behind the increase in interest has been TikTok, where she and others first noticed the trend. “We’ve seen a noticeable rise in inquiries,” she noted, adding that the service has become a popular choice for both individual clients and couples looking for a shared wellness experience. Similarly, Nia Gjorgev from Lumen Estetika mentioned that bookings have consistently been full since the service was introduced, with a particular spike in demand during spring and autumn when seasonal changes affect hair health. The appeal of head spa extends beyond mere relaxation. While some salons emphasize the therapeutic and calming aspects, others highlight the benefits of scalp health and overall well-being. At Lumen Estetika, the treatment is categorized under wellness services aimed at providing relief from daily stress. “It’s not a haircut or medical procedure,” explained Gjorgev. “Clients surrender completely to the care, stepping away from screens and responsibilities, resulting in a restorative effect.” Meanwhile, other salons focus more on the sensory experience, offering a unique blend of comfort and indulgence. In addition to direct bookings, there has been a notable increase in requests for gift vouchers, indicating that head spa is becoming a sought-after gift option. Lucija Males from the Lumina Spa Center noted that while their core services remain central to their business, the introduction of head spa has allowed them to expand their offerings organically. “Many customers opt for gift vouchers, which we’ve started including in our package options,” she added, highlighting the versatility of the service. As the trend continues to grow, it appears that head spa is more than just a passing fad, it's evolving into a recognized part of the wellness landscape, blending self-care, relaxation, and professional grooming. With increasing numbers of salons adopting the practice and customers seeking new ways to unwind, the future looks promising for this emerging service in Slovenia.
