Remco Evenepoel continued his winning streak after finishing second at the Tour de France, securing victory in the classic one-day race in San Sebastian for the fourth time. Carapaza had previously won the points classification at the recently concluded Tour de France. Evenepoel’s victory came despite a flat tire approximately 50 kilometers before the finish line. He managed to recover, losing around half a minute during the bike change, and then pulled away from the main group on the final climb, roughly eight kilometers before the end. Ben Tulett of Visma - Lease a Bike finished in third place, claiming victory in a sprint among a smaller group that passed the finish line after Evenepoel and Carapaza. Tulett's performance highlighted the competitive nature of the race, with multiple riders vying for the top positions. Evenepoel, who is 26 years old, has been focusing on his recovery and preparation for the upcoming world championships in road cycling later this year. When asked whether he is considering a fifth win in San Sebastian, he responded that he is currently thinking only about rest and preparing for the Canadian championship, which will take place in September. The race saw participation from several notable cyclists, including Croatian representative Fran Miholjević, who competed with the team Bahrain Victorious. However, Miholjević found himself in a group of 69 riders who did not manage to reach the finish line. This outcome underscores the challenging nature of the course and the high level of competition present in the event.
