EU-ECOWAS selects DNN FactCheck for election integrity support

DNN FactCheck, a Nigerian fact-checking organization, has been chosen to receive technical and technological support from a European Union-backed initiative aimed at improving election integrity and combating disinformation in West Africa. This support comes through the European Union Support to ECOWAS in Peace, Security and Governance Project, implemented by the Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas in partnership with FactCheckAfrica. DNN FactCheck was selected alongside BONews after a competitive evaluation based on institutional capacity, governance standards, and readiness to adopt technology-driven verification methods. The support includes upgrades to digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, and training in areas such as artificial intelligence and deepfake detection. The initiative aims to strengthen the organization's ability to provide accurate, verified information during elections and foster regional collaboration among fact-checking organizations.
