Power systems across Europe are preparing for a solar eclipse.

Operators of electricity grids across the European Union are preparing for the effects of a total solar eclipse expected in Spain on August 12th, according to a statement by the spokesperson for the European Commission, Anna-Kaisa Itkonen. The eclipse is anticipated to occur during the afternoon, though it is unlikely to have a significant impact due to timing. The total eclipse will be visible in parts of Greenland, western Iceland, Spain, the Balearic Islands, and southern Europe. Partially, the event will be observable across much of Europe and northern Africa, reaching as far as Ukraine and Morocco. While a complete eclipse will not be visible from Croatia, the west of the country will experience over 90% lunar coverage, making the phenomenon highly noticeable.
