Private employment: only two provinces avoid fall since change of government

Private employment in Argentina fell by 0.2% in April 2026 compared to March, according to the seasonally adjusted data from the National Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security. This decline represents the loss of 11,673 jobs and brings private employment levels down 3.7% from November 2023, the month before the government change. The cumulative loss since then amounts to 235,419 jobs, marking the lowest level in four years. Only two provinces, Neuquén and Río Negro, managed to increase their private employment compared to November 2023. Neuquén saw a 7.1% rise, adding 10,176 jobs, while Río Negro recorded a 2.8% increase, equivalent to 3,092 new jobs. In contrast, all other 22 provinces continue to show negative trends, with some experiencing significant declines, such as Formosa (-12.1%), Catamarca (-12.3%), Tierra del Fuego (-15.6%), and Santa Cruz (-16.4%).
