Embrace emerging technologies, students told at NIT-A.P. convocation

At the eighth convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology Andhra Pradesh (NIT-A.P.) held in Tadepalligudem, West Godavari district, on Tuesday, iLabs Group Chairman Chintalapati Srinivasa Raju exhorted graduates to embrace emerging technologies and contribute to India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The event saw the conferring of 644 B.Tech and 53 Ph.D. degrees to students, marking a significant milestone for the institution. Among the notable attendees was IIT Tirupati Director K. N. Satyanarayana, who served as the Guest of Honour. The convocation took place amid growing emphasis on technological advancement and innovation within India’s higher education landscape. Srinivasa Raju, delivering his address, highlighted the rapid evolution of technology and urged students to acquire the necessary skills to thrive in this dynamic environment. He specifically called attention to the potential of the manufacturing sector, encouraging graduates to explore opportunities in this field while engaging in innovative research. His remarks underscored the importance of aligning academic pursuits with national developmental goals. IIT Tirupati Director K. N. Satyanarayana praised the graduates for their dedication and perseverance, stating that the degrees conferred reflected their commitment to excellence. He noted that India is poised to achieve global leadership in areas such as manufacturing, space exploration, renewable energy, semiconductors, and innovation. According to him, the younger generation has a crucial role to play in shaping this future. His comments echoed broader national aspirations aimed at positioning India as a global leader in science and technology. In-Charge Director of NIT Andhra Pradesh, N. V. Ramana Rao, outlined the progress made by the institute over the past decade. He mentioned that the first phase of infrastructure development, with an investment of ₹411 crore, was underway on campus. This initiative includes the establishment of modern laboratories and research centers designed to enhance both teaching and research capabilities. These developments aim to provide students with cutting-edge resources to support their academic and professional growth. Ramana Rao also shared updates regarding the institute’s ranking in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF). NIT Andhra Pradesh has achieved a position in the 201-300 band in the engineering category for the year 2025. This placement reflects the institution’s efforts to improve its academic standards and research output, aligning itself with other premier technical institutions across the country. The convocation ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and faculty members, underscoring the significance of the event. The presence of prominent figures such as Srinivasa Raju and Satyanarayana highlighted the growing interest in fostering collaboration between industry leaders and educational institutions.
