The mystery surrounding the cylindrical columns and metal crossbeams installed on the Maipú Bridge has been resolved with the completion of the Maipú Corridor project. Officially inaugurated on Wednesday as part of Córdoba City's 453rd anniversary celebrations, the project included new decorative lighting systems alongside existing LED street lighting on the Maipú and Alvear bridges, as well as the North and South promenades. The work aimed to enhance access to the city center and improve integration with the Suquía River. Additional improvements included a segregated bike lane on the Maipú Bridge, renovated sidewalks, new metal handrails and guardrails, accessibility ramps, and a new sidewalk along the North Promenade. The project seeks to strengthen connectivity between the north and south of the city via Avenida Juan B. Justo, linking areas such as Plaza España, the City Council, the University City, and Parque Las Heras-Elisa through a more accessible and safer corridor.
