NGEight student-led startups from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have been awarded a total of N50 million under the Federal Government’s Student Venture Capital Grant scheme. This achievement highlights the university's growing role as a center for innovation and entrepreneurship. During the NITHUB Innovation Fair 2026, Vice-Chancellor Prof Folasade Ogunsola emphasized the transformation of UNILAG into a platform for nurturing ideas into viable businesses. She noted that out of over 30,000 national applicants, only 45 were selected, with eight coming from UNILAG. The university's innovation hub, NITHUB, which partners with the National Information Technology Development Agency, has trained over 20,000 Nigerians in digital skills and supported more than 100 startups in the past five years.
