The ECB wants your opinion: what should the new motifs on euro banknotes look like?

The European Central Bank (ECB) has launched a survey asking citizens across Europe for their opinions on the future design of euro banknotes. The survey, open until September 21, follows the ECB's announcement of a narrower selection of ten design proposals based on two themes: 'European Culture' and 'Rivers and Birds'. These designs were chosen from over 1,200 submissions by graphic designers. A specialist committee of 21 independent experts selected the top ten concepts. In addition to the online poll, an independent research agency will conduct a representative survey of eurozone residents. The ECB plans to finalize the decision on the new design by the end of the year, considering expert evaluations, technical analyses, and public feedback. The new banknotes will enter circulation in the coming years after passing technical tests, while existing notes will remain in circulation alongside them. The ECB also aims to improve security features, making them easier to recognize for people with visual impairments and incorporating more sustainable materials.

Bias read (Center): The article presents the ECB's initiative as a neutral process involving public consultation, expert evaluation, and technical assessments. It does not take a partisan stance on the design choices or the implications of the new banknote design. The framing remains balanced, focusing on the procedure
