The young man refused to undergo drug testing, alcohol testing, and a medical examination involving blood and urine samples. He was detained and taken to a police station for further investigation. Police submitted a formal complaint suggesting that the driver should be declared guilty and fined 2,000 euros, along with a three-month ban on operating category B motor vehicles. The court in Velika Gorica accepted this recommendation. In another case, a 23-year-old driver was involved in a minor accident early Monday morning in the area of St. Ivan Zeline, specifically in the village of Gornje Psarjevo on the county road. Around 3:55 am, the driver failed to stay within the marked lane and instead drove into a drainage channel before colliding with the edge of a bridge. The vehicle continued onto the bridge and eventually overturned on its right side, coming to rest on the southern edge of the structure. Material damage resulted from the collision, and the driver was arrested and brought before the local court in Sesveti. Police confirmed that the driver had been under the influence of alcohol, with a recorded level of 1.90 grams per kilogram of alcohol in his bloodstream. The police’s formal complaint recommended that the driver be found guilty, fined 1,480 euros, and subjected to a three-month ban from operating category B motor vehicles. The court in Sesveti agreed with the proposal and issued the corresponding judgment. Both incidents highlight the strict enforcement of traffic regulations in Croatia, particularly regarding the operation of motor vehicles under the influence of alcohol and adherence to proper lane usage.
