SloveniaThe Slovenian team returned from Lithuania after participating in the 37th International Biology Olympiad (IBO 2026) held in Vilnius between July 12 and 19, 2026. The team, representing Slovenia under the auspices of the Association for Technical Culture of Slovenia (ZOTKS), included students from various high schools across the country. In a competition involving 302 participants from 78 countries, Tjaša Polutnik received a commendation, while Erika Košuta Robba and Jakob Majdič won bronze medals. The competition tested both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diverse areas of biology over two days. Team leaders Mojca Ota and Domen Vaupotič accompanied the students, and preparations involved collaboration with assistants and professors from the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. The next edition of the IBO will take place in Warsaw, Poland, in 2027.
