Priest in Argentina Gašper Mauko: You cannot build a Slovenian identity without the Catholic faith (2. (part 2)

In the second part of an interview with Father Gašper Mauko, a Slovenian priest living in Argentina, he discusses the lives of Slovenians in Argentina compared to those in Slovenia. He notes that Slovenians in Argentina tend to be hardworking and successful, often running their own businesses. However, Argentina faces economic instability and political challenges, which have led many Slovenians there to return to Slovenia, especially after the financial crisis before the pandemic. Mauko highlights the importance of preserving family, faith, tradition, and cultural identity among Slovenians abroad, despite the difficulties they face. He also mentions the impact of organized crime and corruption in Argentina, which contributed to some Slovenians returning home. Despite these challenges, Slovenians in Argentina remain committed to maintaining their heritage through community efforts, including organizing events and teaching Slovenian in local schools.

To bo res nekaj izjemnega, veličastnega.

Dvajset let kulture in likovnega ustvarjanja

Kranj – Jubilejno razstavo likovnih del ob dvajsetletnici Puharta so v začetku prejšnjega tedna pripravili v Galeriji Zveze kulturnih društev Kranj in bo na ogled do 6. julija.

In Slovenci smo taki, včasih že kar deloholiki, zato so v Argentini Slovenci praviloma uspešni in izobraženi ljudje; imajo podjetja, pogosto dobra, in se preživljajo z delom lastnih rok.
