Imminent collapse of the mountain 82.5 million for the relocation of Brienz GR

The Swiss canton of Grisons has approved a loan of 82.56 million Swiss francs to facilitate the relocation of residents from the village of Brienz/Brinzauls, which is threatened by an impending landslide. The decision was made at a local council meeting in Albula/Alvra, where 41 votes were cast in favor of the measure compared to just three against. As of now, 42 applications for preventive relocation have been submitted, covering approximately 95 homes. The federal government and the canton of Grisons will cover 90% of the relocation costs, while the remaining 10% will be paid by the individuals wishing to relocate. The municipality of Albula/Alvra will bear additional costs of around 360,000 francs. The final approval process is expected to take place by the end of summer, after which residents who choose relocation will have five years to complete the move.
