Formula One chief executive Stefano Domenicali has confirmed ongoing negotiations regarding potential new race locations in South America and Africa, according to recent statements made during media briefings. The discussions come amid continuous reshaping of the Formula One calendar, with several changes already announced for the upcoming season and beyond. Domenicali revealed that talks in Africa are progressing well, indicating strong interest from multiple countries in hosting Grand Prix events. He mentioned that the organization is also exploring opportunities in South America, as well as other regions including East Asia. These developments follow the addition of a new race in Madrid this year and the confirmation of five consecutive races in Turkey starting from 2027. Additionally, Portugal’s circuit in Portimão will return to the schedule two years later. The current Formula One calendar allows for up to 25 races per season. This year's lineup, before withdrawals from the Middle East, included 24 circuits. Beyond the already selected venues, there is interest in hosting races in South Korea, South Africa, Rwanda, Malaysia, India, Chicago, New York, China, and Thailand, according to reports from ESPN. Domenicali emphasized that while there is growing demand for races in China and Japan, the focus remains on solidifying the market in China before considering additional events in the region. He explained that the priority is to establish a stable presence in China before expanding further. This week, the team will conduct trials in the Netherlands, marking their return after the summer break. The evolving calendar reflects the sport’s global ambitions, seeking to expand its reach into new markets while maintaining traditional racing hubs.
