The children of the deceased priest and the people of Derwent will get three apartments, the humanitarian action is over

In a recent humanitarian effort aimed at providing stability for the children of a deceased priest and his wife from Derventa, three apartments have been secured for their future. The initiative was launched following a tragic traffic accident that claimed the lives of Father Nenad Mitrić and his wife, Nedeljka, early this April. Their three children—Danilo, Teodora, and Vasilije—are now set to receive permanent housing as part of a coordinated relief action.

The apartments, each measuring approximately 55 square meters, come complete with garage spaces. They are currently under construction, though major building works have already been completed. This ensures that the properties will be habitable upon completion. The arrangement has been formalized through notarized agreements signed in Derventa, which stipulate that the apartments cannot be sold, mortgaged, or pledged as collateral until the children reach the age of twenty. This provision aims to ensure long-term security for the family without financial burden.

The initiative was spearheaded by Milanko Balešević, a local entrepreneur from Derventa, who took the lead in organizing the support. Alongside him were Nedeljko Elek, president of the Supervisory Board of the Olympic Center "Jahorina," and Milorad Dodik, leader of the SNSD party. These individuals collaborated to secure the housing solution for the affected children. Their involvement highlights the community's collective response to the tragedy, bringing together both private citizens and public figures to provide tangible assistance.

Father Nenad Mitrić had served as a protonotary within the Zvornik-Tuzla Diocese since May 1, 2022, and was stationed in the parish of Pojezna, where he held the position of Archierarchical Prolocutor of Derventa. His role in the community made his loss particularly impactful, prompting swift action from various sectors to support his family. The efforts reflect not only personal compassion but also a broader societal commitment to ensuring that vulnerable members receive necessary aid during times of crisis.
