Delta can no longer depend solely on oil, says Oborevwori

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, stated on Tuesday that the state can no longer rely solely on oil revenue, emphasizing the need for economic diversification during the second day of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026 in Asaba. The summit, held in the state capital, brought together local and international investors to explore opportunities beyond the oil and gas sector. Oborevwori highlighted that the discussions underscored the urgency of expanding investments into areas such as agriculture, energy, transportation, and technology to foster long-term economic growth and job creation. The governor’s remarks came after a series of business sessions focused on various sectors, including agriculture and livestock development, the blue economy, and digital innovation. These sessions revealed the state's substantial potential for investment in these fields, which could significantly transform its economic landscape.
