Defence ministry clears Rs 1.10 lakh crore acquisition proposals for Armed Forces

The Indian Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved in-principle administrative clearances for defense acquisition proposals totaling approximately Rs 1.10 lakh crore. These funds will be allocated to the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force for acquiring advanced military equipment. The Army will receive CBRN reconnaissance vehicles, high-mobility vehicles, mine-layers, helicopters, and bridge systems. The Navy will procure Arudhra Radars and develop Marine Gas Turbines to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. The Air Force will acquire ground-based multi-purpose jammers and implement a secure access card system. About 98% of these procurements are expected to come from domestic industries.
