Davao del Norte marks 4th year as insurgency-free province

Davao del Norte celebrated the fourth anniversary of being declared an insurgency-free province on July 3, with local government officials and the military participating in the commemoration. Governor Edwin Jubahib and Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and security through a whole-of-nation approach. The province was officially recognized as insurgency-free in 2022 after efforts to dismantle communist influence. During the event, the Department of the Interior and Local Government provided assistance and livelihood support to eight former rebels to aid their reintegration. Luzon highlighted the region's history of armed conflict, particularly in Talaingod’s Pantaron Mountain Range, and stressed the need to protect the current peace and prevent future generations from experiencing past conflicts.
