The Croatian State Security Service (USKOK) has initiated an investigation against three Croatian citizens (born in 1962, 1975, and 1971) based on a criminal report from the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PNUSKOK) and the Split Regional Court (SSKOK). The case involves allegations of abuse of position and authority, as well as incitement to abuse of position and authority. However, USKOK did not recommend placing the accused in investigative detention because there was no basis for such a measure. The report outlines that between September 2020 and November 2021, the second accused (II. okr.) requested from the first accused (I. okr.), who was responsible for issuing decisions regarding the provision of hospitality services in private households, to issue a decision allowing the provision of these services despite knowing that the land parcels in question were outside the construction area and unsuitable for building a camp. The first accused falsely documented an inspection at the second accused’s property and issued a favorable decision, which the third accused (III. okr.) then passed on to the second accused. The case highlights potential misuse of authority within local governance
