MXMembers of the Wixaritari community in Tateikie or San Andrés Cohamiata, located in the municipality of Mezquitic, staged a protest outside the Government Palace of Jalisco to demand improved security in their region, which has been plagued by violence linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG). The community reported recent incidents including the kidnapping of Efrén Moreno, the communal commissioner, and his father, who were released after several days. In response, displaced members of the community mobilized to raise awareness about the situation in Tateikie and deliver a petition to authorities, demanding effective coordination among local, state, and federal authorities to address insecurity, protect residents, and investigate the incident involving the governor’s security.
