Actor Bhavana has been selected for the Chinta Ravindran Award 2026, established in honor of the late film-maker, art critic, and travelogue writer Chinta Ravindran. The award, worth ₹50,000 and including a sculpture, will be presented at an event in Kozhikode Town Hall on July 25. The jury, comprising poet K. Satchidanandan and journalists K.C. Narayanan and M.P. Surendran, praised Bhavana for her advocacy for women's independence in Kerala society. The ceremony will feature speeches by writer N.S. Madhavan, journalist Shashi Kumar, and writer Paul Zacharia, alongside a lecture by N. Ram on the impact of Hindutva authoritarianism on India's constitutional framework. This marks the seventh edition of the award since Ravindran's death in 2011. An accompanying exhibition titled 'Echoes of an unfinished dream' will run from July 20 at the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi Art Gallery as part of the foundation's 'The Names of Gaza' initiative, commemorating 18,000 children killed in the Israeli attack on Gaza.
