Chaos at access to Ceuta's emergency camp: police charges and one injured after hours of waiting

A chaotic situation occurred at the emergency shelter installed by Spain’s Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security, and Migration in Ceuta, where hundreds of migrants attempted to enter the facility en masse after waiting for hours. The National Police intervened to prevent overcrowding, using rubber bullets and making charges, which resulted in at least one person being injured. Meanwhile, around 400 women staying in other camps across Ceuta were relocated to the Hippic Center. Tensions escalated when access was granted to a group inside the Loma Colmenar shelter, prompting those outside, many who had spent the night nearby, to try to enter simultaneously. Thousands of migrants, including North Africans and Sub-Saharan individuals, gathered in the area, some sleeping on sidewalks and blocking entrances while waiting for limited resources. The police worked throughout much of the morning to keep access clear amid ongoing conflicts among migrants.
