BRICS delegates visit Thotlakonda Buddhist site in A.P. on sidelines of Youth and Sports Ministers’ meet

The visit took place during the sidelines of the ongoing BRICS Youth and Sports Ministers’ meetings, which were hosted under India’s chairmanship for 2026. The BRICS Youth Ministers’ meeting was scheduled for Saturday, while the Sports Ministers’ meeting was set for Sunday, August 23. During their visit, the delegation explored key features of the Thotlakonda site, including the Mahastupa, ancient water cisterns, the refectory, and meditation centers. A guide provided detailed explanations of the site's historical and religious significance, highlighting its role in Buddhist traditions and its archaeological value. The group also learned about the monastic life that once flourished at the location. Mandaviya participated in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, planting a sapling as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation.
