Firefighters rescue injured by helicopter

A 69-year-old hiker was seriously injured while walking on the Matrassteig at Brandstätterkogel in the district of Amstetten. The incident occurred when she slipped on a stone. Local mountain rescue teams from Amstetten and Waidhofen an der Ybbs responded initially. The woman was secured and provided first aid. She was then rescued by a medical helicopter using a rope and handed over to the Red Cross. Further treatment took place before she was transported to the state clinic in Amstetten, where she is currently being cared for in the shock room.
