Bogotá is preparing for a month-long celebration of sports, music, and recreation with the launch of the 29th edition of the Summer Festival, set to run from July 31 to August 31, 2026. The event will feature over 60 activities spanning sports, culture, and entertainment, aimed at engaging residents and visitors of all ages. The city has already begun its countdown to one of the year’s most anticipated gatherings, which promises to transform public spaces into hubs of activity and community engagement. The festival will officially kick off on July 22 with a launch event at Plaza La Santamaría, where the District Institute of Recreation and Sports (IDRD) will unveil the full schedule of events. This includes both national and international competitions and performances, marking the start of what is expected to be one of the most significant recreational seasons in the capital. The IDRD confirmed that Mexico will serve as the guest country for this edition, further enriching the cultural exchange during the festivities. Among the highlights of the festival are several high-profile events. On August 1, the “Conciertazo de Verano” will take place at the Events Plaza in Simón Bolívar Park, featuring free performances by artists such as Calibre 50, Luister La Voz, Proyecto A, and Jhon Onofre, along with other invited performers. Other notable events include the South American Beach Volleyball Circuit, the International Taekwondo Cup City of Bogotá 2026, the Lunada de Verano, the Porrismo Festival, a Human Train Record on Roller Skates, the Sube Monserrate climb, the Comet Festival, the Nighttime Bicycle Tour, Red Bull Moto Urbano, and Strongman Bogotá. These events will complement numerous national and international tournaments across various sports disciplines. In addition to these recreational and sporting events, the festival will also emphasize wellness and physical activity for people of all ages. The IDRD has announced dedicated areas focused on health, exercise, and leisure, reinforcing Bogotá's commitment to hosting major international sporting events and promoting active lifestyles among its population.
